If a dessert combines peanut butter and chocolate, I like it. It's that simple. I don't care what type of dessert it is; if it has these two things, I'll eat it.
Rice Crispy treats are delicious (homemade, not store bought-yuck!). BUT, I never buy Rice Crispies. I do happen to often have cheerios on hand, however, and I always stock up on marshmallows in the fall when they are $.50 a package. And peanut butter, well, I buy that stuff by the case at Smith's twice a year.
What You'll Need:
*6 cups multigrain cheerios (or any cheerios that you have)
*1/2 cup peanut butter
*2 TBL butter
*1 (10 oz) package marshmallows
*Chocolate chips (optional, but delicious)
What to do:
*Grease a 9x13 pan with butter.
*In a pot over medium heat, melt the butter and peanut butter together.
*Add the bag of marshmallows and stir constantly so they don't stick to the side and burn. You can count this as your daily arm workout :)
*Once you have a big, gooey mess and the marshmallows have all melted, stir in your cheerios.
*Once the cheerios are evenly covered, pour the mixture into your 9x13 dish. Press down. (Tip: coat a spatula with butter or oil and use it to spread/press down the tops.)
*Immediately sprinkle a few handfuls of chocolate chips over the top, and then gently press them down so that they'll stick to the treats.
*Slice.
Enjoy 1 or 5.
