Sensory-Sea Shells in a Sand Box

If you have a sand sensory box of any kind at your home (whether in a box outside, or a small tub inside), you can turn it into an imaginary beach by adding sea shells and small shovels!  You can find sea shells at the Dollar Store, and of course, beach toys/shovels can be found just about anywhere this time of year.  Take an imaginary trip to the beach to hunt for beautiful seashells!

If you don't already have a sand box, consider making a small sensory tub indoors by using a lidded tub from the Dollar Store, or a bigger tub from a store like Target or Walmart.  Sand gets heavy, so if you plan on buying a big tub, I suggest getting one with wheels so you can move it if necessary.

We love sensory tubs for science discovery at our house.  Our favorites are pinto beans and cloud dough.

What are your favorite sensory activities?
