Make your own Bookmarks

Here's an easy last minute Christmas gift idea.  Homemade bookmarks!

All you'll need is:

*scrapbook paper
*clear packaging tape (or a laminator if you have one)
*ribbon or yarn
*beads

What to do:

Cut 2 strips of scrapbook paper the length and width that you desire.  Place the two pieces back to back, so that the design will show when looking at the bookmark from either direction.  You can add a small amount of glue from a glue stick to hold the two strips in place.  Lay the papers flat over your clear packaging tape.  Place another layer of tape on the backside.  The tape will serve as your "laminator" and will help protect your bookmarks.  Punch a hole in the top.  Fold a strip of ribbon or yarn in half, and loop it through the hole and pull tight.  If you want, you can embellish the ends of your string or ribbon with beads.

That's it!  I was able to find these things around my house and made some for my mom and my little 5 year old reader who's beginning to need to mark her place in longer books.

It's a simple, easy, functional gift in minutes!
