Update on Ben & God's Faithfulness

Ben went in for surgery on Thursday to repair a torn ACL, MCL, and PCL.  Everything went well, and he is home and resting.

Two weeks ago, the ortho was a little concerned that with the severity of Ben's injury, he may have had a blocked or injured artery in his leg.  He ordered a second MRI with contrast to check it out as a blocked artery can often mean amputation.  His artery looked fine.

Before surgery on Thursday, the anesthesiologist said THREE times that Ben was so "lucky".  Injuries like his are typically only seen in severe car accidents, and in these types of cases, the rate for amputation is quite high.  Ben still has both legs, and in her opinion, he was very "lucky".

We, of course, know that "luck" had nothing to do with it.  We serve an awesome God who loves and cares for us.  He has totally provided, protected, and cared for Ben during this time.  I am SO thankful that Ben has TWO working (well, soon-to-be-working) legs!  God is good!  He should make a full recovery and be able to do everything as before, which is amazing.

In reference to a previous post on the subject...

Ben had to have a catheter because the surgery was so long.  He was not too happy to find it still in place upon waking up.  But, he did survive it, and would like a shirt made to brag about it.

I, on the other hand, am completely jealous that men get to pee while in bed post-surgery.  I've had THREE c-sections, and have to stand up and WALK to the bathroom to pee each time.  Painful.  Lame.

Thanks for encouraging, praying, and walking with us through this time in our lives.  We are appreciative of each of you!

And, as a side note, I still cannot believe that this type of damage was done playing a game of soccer.  Whoever said that soccer is for sissies should re-evaluate their statement.
