Sweet Potato Fries are a regular dinner side dish in our home. But, until tonight I hadn't quite "mastered" a great concoction that we all really enjoyed. They are either not done enough or not seasoned well. Today I had a great result, so I thought I'd share! I would have posted a picture, but we ate them too quickly for me to think that I should grab my camera :)
(I like to mix a Sweet Potato and a Yam-great flavors it and looks nice with different colors!)
Wash 1 sweet potato and 1 yam. Poke a few hole in each one. Place one at a time on a microwave safe plate. Microwave each one for about 1 minute to 1 1/2 minutes. Handle carefully as they will be hot. Slice into "fries". Put fries into a ziploc bag, and add 1-2 TBS oil, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, and 1-2TBS brown sugar. Shake the bag to coat all fries evenly. Spread the fries out on a baking sheet and broil on high, stirring occasionally. Take the fries out when they are your desired softness. Ours took maybe 10 minutes and were nice and soft. Enjoy! These are a sweet side dish to add to any meal! Yum!
These are also a healthier alternative to regular french fries. Whip up a batch for lunch with your kids!
